A Wake-Up Call for Tired Homes

Whether you want to update your kitchen, modernise your old-fashioned bathroom, or strip back and refurbish a whole house, we will take on your renovation project with our customary attention to detail, passion for precision and commitment to the highest standards of finish possible.

We are fortunate to be living and working in north Somerset and Wiltshire, where old properties abound, crying out for rejuvenation. We’ve therefore had plenty of experience in undertaking home renovations for a wide variety of clients, from buy-to-let landlords who want to upgrade homes for tenancy, to those with a passion for rescuing period properties and bringing them into the 21st century.

The Fender Developments core team of renovation experts is supported by a broad array of tried and tested sub-contractors – including those who are adept at traditional crafts and building techniques – so we can successfully complete any size home renovation project, from a single room to an entire mansion. We even undertake garden make-overs.

As builders we gain immense satisfaction from renovating tired old houses in and around the city of Bath, and nearby towns like Box, Melksham, Peasedown St John, Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge.

New Kitchens & Bathrooms

Most Popular Renovation Projects

New bathrooms and kitchens head up the list of the UK’s most popular home improvements, according to a survey by Gocompare.com Home Insurance – and this is backed up by numerous other consumer groups and surveys.

There is no doubt that kitchens and bathrooms suffer the most wear and tear of any room in the home, which is why we are often called in for complete or partial refurbishments.

One trend we have noticed recently is that people are swapping their traditional dated bathrooms for modern, functional wet rooms. When it comes to kitchens, most of our clients are thinking big, opening up their existing kitchens and moving walls in order to create light, spacious open-plan kitchen-diners.

If you need to renovate your kitchen or modernise your bathroom, our professional team can do it all, from the plumbing and electrics to the plastering, tiling and cabinetry. We’ll leave you with beautifully fitted and finished rooms that bear testament to our attention to detail and pride in our workmanship.

Historic House Restoration

Care & Sensitivity

We feel privileged when clients ask us to renovate an historic home or work on a period property because there is something special and immensely satisfying about returning a Georgian, Victorian or Edwardian home to its former glory.

Historic property renovations need to be carried out with care and sensitivity, and of course all the correct permissions need to be in place. Such restorations can be complex, particularly for listed buildings, not just because of the legalities and restrictions but also because there may well be previous restoration work that has been poorly done, or simply issues arising from age.

Renovating an old house is a labour of love, and we make sure we are prepared for any eventuality and make contingency plans up front. Communication with the client is key in a full house renovation.

We prefer to retain as many historic features as possible if the client is agreeable, and use traditional craftsmen wherever possible to replicate the original materials and workmanship.
